"The PD Who Worked Together on the Broadcast Also Runs a Famous Dalri"
Chef Ahn Yuseong, who gained attention by appearing on Netflix's "Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War," reportedly visited Jeju Air crash victims' families at Muan Airport in Jeollanam-do, bringing homemade gimbap to express his condolences.
According to Chosun Biz and Maeil Newspaper on the 30th, Chef Ahn visited Muan International Airport in the afternoon carrying 200 servings of gimbap he made himself. While personally handing out the food, he shared his sorrow with the bereaved families, asking, "How many servings do you need? You must make sure to eat well."
On that day, Chef Ahn told reporters, "I made gimbap with my staff from early morning and came here," adding, "My heart is heavy and I was so heartbroken that I ran out while working." Chef Ahn runs a Japanese restaurant in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. He expressed his grief, saying, "Most of the victims were local residents, so everyone is connected somehow," and "The PD who worked with me on the show also passed away."
Chef Ahn said, "No matter what words are said, the wounds of the bereaved families will not heal," and added, "Since cooking is the only skill I have, I want to stay by their side by volunteering in any way I can." He plans to prepare and distribute rice cake soup to the families on January 1, the first day of the new year. He also revealed that a famous restaurant in the Muan area prepared 500 servings of food that day to join in the sharing.
At Muan Airport, support for the bereaved families continues, including from Chef Ahn. Volunteers from the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korean Red Cross provided porridge, soup, rice, and side dishes to the families. Religious groups and civic organizations also delivered bottled water, bread, and winter supplies to support the families. Employees of Korea Electric Power Corporation brought essential daily necessities such as socks, towels, and hot packs to the airport, and in front of a convenience store on the first floor, Lotte Korea Seven officials posted a sign saying, "Please take as much as you need," offering water, bread, ramen, and energy bars.
The "prepayment" movement, which spread at the rally calling for President Yoon Seok-yeol's resignation, also continued. At a cafe on the second floor of Muan Airport that day, a notice was posted stating that a citizen had prepaid 100 Americanos and 100 caf? lattes for the bereaved families and volunteers. Additionally, a banner offering free accommodation for the families was hung near Muan Airport.
