Realizing RE100 in Transportation Sector with Solar Power Facilities Linked to Private Transport Company Garages
Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced on the 30th that it has signed an agreement with Gyeongwon Passenger Automobile Co., Ltd. to promote the installation of solar power facilities to achieve carbon neutrality and ‘Transportation RE100.’
‘Transportation RE100’ is a strategy by Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation to achieve RE100 by collaborating with private transportation operators, identifying idle spaces such as garages, and converting the use of renewable energy in the transportation sector of Gyeonggi Province to 100%.
Through this, the corporation plans to present a sustainable energy transition model within the region while also strengthening the local community’s capacity to respond to the climate crisis.
The solar power facilities will be installed on idle land within the Gyeongwon Passenger garage, with Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation providing renewable energy business consulting and administrative support. Gyeongwon Passenger will be responsible for the introduction and operation of the solar power equipment, and both parties will cooperate based on mutual trust to successfully carry out the project.
In particular, the corporation explained that through this agreement, Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation intends to present a public-private cooperation model aimed at overcoming the climate crisis and realizing carbon neutrality.
Min Kyung-sun, President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, stated, “This agreement is an important first step toward achieving Transportation RE100 promoted by Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation,” and added, “We will continue to strive for eco-friendly energy transition and the realization of carbon neutrality.”
