The Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungeo Island Ecological Park, the greatest achievement of the 8th popularly elected administration of Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, have established themselves as leading tourist attractions representing Jeollabuk-do and South Korea.
According to the county on the 30th, since March, the number of visitors to Okjeongho Bungeo Island Ecological Park has totaled around 460,000.
Accordingly, since the opening of the Okjeongho Suspension Bridge in October 2022, the Bungeo Island Ecological Park has attracted approximately 1.32 million visitors in just over two years, quickly rising as a nationally popular tourist destination.

This year, the county held the first-ever 2024 Imsil Okjeongho Cherry Blossom Festival at the Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungeo Island Ecological Park to welcome spring, attracting about 20,000 tourists who enjoyed the festivities.
In April and May, a spectacular display of colorful spring flowers was in full bloom, drawing crowds of visitors.
With the arrival of autumn, the county worked hard to create an autumn landscape by planting chrysanthemums, cosmos, and Gujeolcho in the Bungeo Island Ecological Park area to coincide with the Imsil N Cheese Festival, which has become Jeollabuk-do's signature autumn festival, allowing visitors to fully experience the season's ambiance.
Responding to these efforts, autumn flowers began to bloom, and bus tours were packed with tourists from all over the country. In October alone, the number of visitors to Bungeo Island Ecological Park reached approximately 100,000.
During winter, Okjeongho Bungeo Island Ecological Park planted ornamental cabbages, a winter flower, and installed large trees and Santa-shaped sculptures so that visitors can enjoy the beauty of Bungeo Island throughout all four seasons.
The county will temporarily close the Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungeo Island Ecological Park from January 1 to February 28 of next year to prevent accidents caused by cold waves and freezing during the winter season.
During the closure, the county will conduct thorough facility inspections and environmental improvements, aiming to reopen in March next year, designated as the Year of Visiting Imsil, with an even safer and more pleasant environment.
County Governor Shim Min said, "Next year, as the Year of Visiting Imsil, we expect even more diverse attractions and experiences. Okjeongho Bungeo Island Ecological Park is not only a place to enjoy in spring and autumn but a year-round tourist destination that will serve as a key hub to achieve 10 million visitors."
