Base Salary Increased by 80,000 Won, Holiday Allowance Raised by 150,000 Won, etc.
On the 30th, 17 city and provincial offices of education nationwide, including Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su), announced that they reached the '2024 Education Public Service Workers Collective (Wage) Agreement' with the National School Irregular Workers Solidarity Conference at the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Ji-cheol, Superintendent of Chungnam Office of Education, who served as the chief negotiator in this year's collective wage negotiations for school irregular workers, along with representatives from the National School Irregular Workers Solidarity Conference and the city and provincial offices of education.
Under this agreement, starting in 2025, the base salary will increase by 80,000 KRW per month, and an additional 150,000 KRW will be paid annually as holiday allowance. The longevity allowance will be raised from 39,000 KRW to 40,000 KRW per grade, and the maximum service period for the allowance will be extended by one year (from a maximum of 22 years to 23 years).
The 17 city and provincial offices of education and the National School Irregular Workers Solidarity Conference conducted 18 rounds of negotiations since July but faced difficulties as they could not narrow their differences.
In particular, the National School Irregular Workers Solidarity Conference declared a breakdown in negotiations last October and proceeded with a general strike on December 6, making the negotiations even more challenging. However, both sides returned to the negotiating table and reached a final agreement.
A representative from the Ulsan Office of Education stated, “Going forward, the Ulsan Office of Education will continue to build a mutually cooperative labor-management relationship with the education public service workers' union and actively strive to improve the treatment of education public service workers and guarantee students' right to learn.”
