Busan Transportation Corporation Strengthens Management Efficiency Through Organizational Restructuring

Slimming Down by Reducing Major Departments and Senior Positions for a Swift and Efficient Organization

Adjusting Overlapping Functions and Securing In-House Personnel for New Business and Current Issues Response

Busan Transportation Corporation will implement an organizational restructuring effective January 1 next year, reflecting internal and external management environments such as the local public institution efficiency policy and the results of the organizational diagnosis research service.

This restructuring focuses on enhancing the corporation's management efficiency and productivity by adjusting existing organizations and personnel without additional staffing.

The core of the restructuring is the consolidation of major departments and reduction of senior positions. The plan is to establish a swift decision-making system and improve management efficiency by integrating or abolishing four departments and three divisions, including the Sales Headquarters, and reducing unnecessary organizations.

Additionally, the corporation plans to maximize work efficiency by adjusting similar and overlapping functions within the organization. Safety management, inspection, and investigation functions will be unified to strengthen the expertise and consistency of the safety management system, and dual organizations in areas such as telecommunications and organizational culture will be integrated to promote efficient operation. In particular, a plan has been prepared to create synergy by integrating urban railway facility maintenance and construction functions.

Through this restructuring, the corporation will also secure the necessary personnel internally for new projects and resolving current issues. Personnel will be reallocated to future growth engine projects such as New Transportation and Design Management, and additional support staff will be organized to normalize private investment shopping mall development projects.

Lee Byung-jin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, “This organizational restructuring is part of our internal innovation to flexibly respond to changes in internal and external environments, aiming to significantly enhance the corporation’s productivity and management efficiency through organizational and personnel reform. Based on management efficiency, we will operate a customer-centered and efficient organization that fulfills our responsibilities as a local public institution.”
