The target projects include ▲Citizen Sports Complex Artificial Turf Soccer Field Construction Project (800 million KRW) ▲Installation of LED Disaster Awareness Display Boards under Topyeong Bridge (400 million KRW) ▲Pedestrian Traffic Accident Hotspot Improvement Project (400 million KRW), totaling three projects. This will enable the city to respond to diverse cultural welfare demands and prepare for the increasing unexpected disasters and emergencies.

Among these, the “Citizen Sports Complex Artificial Turf Soccer Field Construction Project,” with a total budget of 4.2 billion KRW, was also selected in November for the 2025 Gyeonggi Province Sports Promotion Facility Support Project, securing 1.26 billion KRW in provincial funds. Including this special grant, the city has secured a total of 2.06 billion KRW in external funding, reducing the city’s financial burden and enabling faster project implementation.

The “Installation of LED Disaster Awareness Display Boards under Topyeong Bridge” project involves installing two disaster awareness display boards under Topyeong Bridge on Wangsukcheon Stream, a flood-prone disaster area during summer. This project will be carried out in conjunction with the ongoing “Topyeong Bridge Underpass Lighting Gallery Construction Project.”

To this end, the city was selected in 2023 for the “Creating Happy Nightscapes with Light” project hosted by Gyeonggi Province, securing 150 million KRW in provincial funds.

The city expects that the area under Topyeong Bridge will become a new attraction offering nightscapes to citizens visiting Wangsukcheon Stream, while also serving as a place for disaster and emergency prevention awareness.

Additionally, the “Pedestrian Traffic Accident Hotspot Improvement Project” involves installing floor-type pedestrian traffic lights, pedestrian signal voice guidance auxiliary devices, and smart traffic accident warning systems at two locations: Gyeongchun-ro 206-1 area and Sutaek-dong 862 area, where pedestrian accidents have frequently occurred in the past. This project will not only prevent traffic accidents but also provide citizens with customized information on weather, safety, and daily life.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun stated, “With the worsening city finances due to increasing domestic and international economic uncertainties, securing external funding is more important than ever. This special grant will serve as a catalyst for stable city financial management.” He added, “We will promptly proceed with the projects to improve citizens’ quality of life and do our best to secure resources for revitalizing the local economy and enhancing citizen welfare.”

Meanwhile, the city secured 500 million KRW in special grants for the first half of 2024 for two projects: ▲Installation of Blocking Facilities at Galmae Underpass (400 million KRW) and ▲New Installation of Multipurpose CCTV in Sutaek 3-dong (100 million KRW), accelerating efforts to ensure citizens’ safe lives.
