Government Declares Muan-gun a 'Special Disaster Area' Following Passenger Plane Tragedy

Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Strategy and Finance, declared Muan County a special disaster area in relation to the Jeju Air passenger plane accident that occurred at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do on the 29th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced.

The declaration of a special disaster area is a measure for prompt damage recovery and victim support at the government-wide level.

When declared a special disaster area, measures such as victim support according to relevant laws are implemented at the inter-ministerial level. Damage recovery and support will be handled not only by Muan County but also by local governments that have jurisdiction over the residents' registered addresses of disaster victims.
