Earlier, JTBC's incident chief reported that a couple who submitted the report were assaulted by a group of Chinese customers while dining at a lamb skewer restaurant in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on the 25th. They were attacked after asking not to smoke inside the restaurant.

The couple directly asked, "Excuse me, please smoke outside." One Chinese person replied, "Sorry," but sarcastically said, "Who are you to tell me not to smoke?" and uttered Chinese curses.

When the reporting party, who understood Chinese, asked them not to swear, the response was, "Are you Chinese or Korean? What’s so great about Koreans that they can’t even smoke?" and then they started throwing punches.

The group of Chinese people strangled the man’s neck and dragged him outside the restaurant, continuing indiscriminate assault by hitting him with beer bottles and kicking him. The woman was also assaulted by having her hair pulled and being kicked.

The police later arrived, and one of the Chinese individuals was arrested on the spot on charges of special assault for violently beating the couple. The police are pursuing five others who fled.
