Public Recruitment for Gyeonggi Local Currency Operator... Contract with Kona I Expires in April Next Year Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building. Provided by Gyeonggi Province

This recruitment follows the expiration of the contract with the existing operation agency, Kona I Consortium, in April next year.

The Gyeonggi Local Currency joint operation agency will handle technical tasks such as developing and operating the Gyeonggi Local Currency platform for 28 cities and counties within the province, card application and issuance, and customer service.

Eligibility to participate requires being a financial company or electronic financial business operator that meets the requirements of a sales agency under Article 2, Clause 2 of the Act on the Promotion of Use of Local Gift Certificates.

Interested companies can visit the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Regional Finance Division (3rd floor, Annex Building, Northern Office, 1 Cheongsa-ro, Uijeongbu-si) between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on January 24 next year to submit proposals and related documents. Submission by mail, email, or fax is not allowed.

Gyeonggi Province plans to objectively evaluate the proposals through the Proposal Evaluation Committee’s review process, assessing business understanding, execution capability, platform superiority, convenience and usefulness, payment fee reduction, and social contribution, and select a preferred negotiation candidate by February next year.

In particular, the proposal clearly states that applicants should present new technologies that improve the Gyeonggi Local Currency usage environment by reflecting the opinions of residents and local governments, and enhance convenience for visually impaired and elderly users.

Additionally, businesses proposing payment fee reduction plans that provide practical help to small business owners struggling with inflation and economic recession, as well as social contribution plans that can coexist with the local community, will be highly evaluated.

Earlier, on the 19th of last month, Gyeonggi Province explained the public recruitment plan for selecting the joint operation agency for Gyeonggi Local Currency and gathered opinions through a meeting with practical officials from the province and cities/counties.

Heo Seung-beom, Director of the Economic Office, said, “Through this public recruitment, we will select an operator of Gyeonggi Local Currency that can provide stronger support to small business owners and self-employed individuals,” and added, “We hope for active interest and participation from excellent operators related to local currency operations.”

The bid announcement will be held from December 27, 2024, to January 24, 2025. For more details, please check the Gyeonggi Province website’s notices and announcements, Nara Market, or contact the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Regional Finance Division.
