Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has successfully completed the Integrated Safety Smart Pole construction project, promoted as part of the Seoul city public contest project.
This project was implemented to prevent child traffic accidents and create safe school routes based on smart technology and data analysis.
A "Smart Pole" is a complex facility that combines various forms of urban infrastructure (traffic signal poles, streetlight poles, security light poles) with various smart city information and communication technologies (ICT).
It provides various functions such as ▲illegal parking enforcement and intelligent closed-circuit television (CCTV) ▲speed warning system ▲stop line violation guidance system ▲public Wi-Fi and emergency bells, contributing to the prevention of traffic accidents and enhancing residents' convenience.
The district analyzed child traffic accident data to identify high-accident areas and roads with heavy school commuting traffic, calculating a traffic safety vulnerability index within a 300m radius of 24 elementary schools in the area.
Based on this, four optimal installation sites near Mukhyeon Elementary School and Sinmuk Elementary School were selected, existing disorderly installed facilities were reorganized, and a total of four new smart poles were constructed.
The district plans to promote the advancement of the urban environment through this project and verify the effectiveness of child traffic accident prevention through continuous maintenance and performance evaluation.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "This smart pole construction project is a model case that combines data-driven administration and smart technology to protect the safety of residents and enhance the cityscape. We will continue to make efforts to secure child traffic safety in the future."
