Police Conduct Search and Seizure at Samcheong-dong Presidential Residence... Attempt to Secure CCTV Footage

The police investigating President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is accused of being the ringleader of an insurrection, have begun a search and seizure operation at the presidential safe house (An-ga) in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The National Investigation Headquarters' Special Investigation Unit for Martial Law Emergencies of the National Police Agency announced on the afternoon of the 27th that they have started a search and seizure at the presidential security office and the Samcheong-dong safe house to secure CCTV footage.


A representative of the Special Investigation Unit stated, "Since the presidential security office may have information related to the safe house CCTV, we are conducting search and seizure operations at both locations for the same purpose."


The Samcheong-dong safe house was identified as the location where President Yoon summoned former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, Police Commissioner General Jo Ji-ho, and Seoul Police Commissioner Kim Bong-sik around 7 p.m. on the 3rd, just before the declaration of martial law, to conspire an insurrection. On the 4th, after the martial law was lifted, it was the meeting place of Minister of Justice Park Seong-jae, former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, and Director of the Legislation Office Lee Wan-gyu.


Currently, the search and seizure at the safe house is not proceeding properly, and it is reported that the police are in a standoff.
