Yangyang-gun is known as the 'Haeoreum hometown' (Yang陽 meaning sun, Yang襄 meaning to rise) and has many famous sunrise spots. Every January 1st, numerous visitors come to watch the sunrise at popular locations such as Hajodae, Naksansa Temple, Naksan Beach, Seorak Beach, Jukdo Beach, and Dongho Beach.

Accordingly, Yangyang-gun held a meeting on the 19th to manage the safety of sunrise visitors and is making every effort to inspect facilities at sunrise locations and prepare traffic control to prevent accidents.

Yangyang-gun has set up a comprehensive sunrise situation room at the Naksan Beach Administrative Service Office and a disaster and traffic situation room at the Yangyang-gun Office Disaster Situation Room to lead sunrise safety management. They plan to cooperate with related organizations such as the police and fire departments to respond promptly to various situations.

Additionally, to prevent safety accidents, access control will be enforced at 15 locations including major breakwaters, Hajodae pavilion and lighthouse, and observation decks at Hajodae, Jukdo, and Namae Port, which can be dangerous when crowded. Safety inspections will be strengthened for key facilities such as photo zones and signposts, and the facility environment of major beaches and tourist attractions will be thoroughly maintained before and after the sunrise event.

Calcium chloride will be distributed on major access roads to tourist sites where freezing is expected, and an on-site response task force will be operated to prepare for emergencies.

In particular, to alleviate traffic congestion, local community organizations such as the Volunteer Fire Brigade Yangyang-gun Federation, Yangyang-gun Autonomous Crime Prevention Federation, and Yangyang-gun Model Drivers Association, along with Yangyang-gun Office officials, will be deployed on the entrance and exit roads around Naksan Beach to support smooth vehicle traffic.

A Yangyang-gun official stated, "We will strive to ensure that local residents and visitors can safely enjoy the sunrise through thorough safety management in preparation for the event."
