From the 31st, over 20 eco-friendly material artworks on the theme of
‘Human and Nature’ will be exhibited
Seoul Facilities Corporation (Chairman Han Guk-yeong) announced on the 27th that it will hold an art exhibition titled "New Alchemist" with the theme of "Humans and Nature" at the Cheonggyecheon Shantytown Theme Zone in Majang-dong, Seongdong-gu.
The exhibition, which will be held from the 31st of this month until May 9th next year, will display about 20 artworks created by seven student artists from the Department of Metal Form Design at Hongik University. "New Alchemist" means "new alchemist," signifying the presentation of eco-friendly material design works through various material research and experiments.
Among the exhibited works, "With" (by Choi Hye-ju) is a lamp made using discarded seaweed stems. This piece expresses efforts for coexistence between humans and the environment. The work "Proud" (by Han Seung-han) is a cloud-shaped sculpture made by melting plastic bottle caps. It conveys the duality of convenience and environmental destruction.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is closed every Monday.
Han Guk-yeong, Chairman of Seoul Facilities Corporation, said, "If you visit this exhibition, you can appreciate how eco-friendly materials from daily life are reborn as works of art," adding, "Seoul Facilities Corporation will continue to organize valuable events where citizens can enjoy new cultural pleasures."
Meanwhile, Seoul Facilities Corporation recently held the "Winter Festival Winterland" at Seoul Children's Grand Park so that citizens could enjoy the warm feelings of winter. It also introduced a new "Travel Time Forecast Service" that informs expected vehicle travel times by time of day on major Seoul expressways such as Olympic-daero and Gangbyeonbuk-ro, providing differentiated public services to make citizens' daily lives safer and happier.
