Jangseong County in Jeonnam has been selected as a recipient of government-linked support for the Smart Agriculture Development Zone project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for next year.
According to the county on the 26th, the project will invest a total of 39.1 billion KRW to establish a rental-type smart farm complex, support center, and APC in the Wollyeon-ri area of Samgye-myeon, Jangseong, by 2027.
The plan is to focus on Jangseong lemon and subtropical vegetables, which are local specialty products, as a youth entrepreneurship theme, and to promote the creation and scaling-up of the complex.
In addition, with the National Subtropical Crop Demonstration Center scheduled for completion in 2026, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, and the formation of the "Jangseong County Smart Agriculture Development Zone Consortium (JSDC)," integrated management support will be provided, covering seedling production, cultivation, and distribution.
Kim Hanjong, the county governor, stated, "In order to lead the rapidly growing global market for lemons and lemon-processed products, we plan to focus on building a 'K-Subtropical' smart farm youth entrepreneurship and export platform," and added, "We will overcome the crisis in agriculture and rural communities through smart agriculture and the power of youth."
