Daejeon City has announced that the '2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival' will be held for nine days from August 8 to 16 next year, spanning from Daejeon Station to the old Chungnam Provincial Government Office along Jungang-ro and throughout the original downtown commercial district.
On the 26th, the city held a festival promotion committee meeting in the city hall's main conference room to ensure the successful hosting of the '2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival', gathering opinions from committee members composed of experts in various fields.
The '2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival' will feature a variety of programs under the theme of a time-travel festival exploring Daejeon's past, present, and future.
The Past Zone will be designed as a space to reminisce about the city of pioneers. Visitors can experience the scenery of Daejeon Station in the 1950s, and enjoy time-travel performances such as road musicals, Madanggeuk, and trot music.
The Present Zone will offer a grand celebration of culture and arts. Large-scale street parades with nine different themes over nine days, including military bands, folk games, and dance, will take place. The D-Culture Festival, featuring local artists, will be held throughout the venue. Additionally, nationwide fringe festivals using the Daejeon-style Edinburgh system and K-POP concerts are planned.
The Future Zone will showcase Daejeon's status as a city of science and technology. There will be exhibitions of scientific achievements by Daedeok Innopolis research institutes and innovative companies, a science playground experience zone, a large-scale photo zone featuring the Kkumssi family, and a family theme park for all ages to enjoy.
To strengthen its image as a festival tourism city, Daejeon will expand the concentration of visitors and economic impact from the original downtown to the entire city. To achieve this, festival-linked programs will also be held in the five autonomous districts, along with Daejeon Travel Week and simultaneous discount events at shopping districts.
Moreover, to make the festival more exciting at night than during the day, a two-day All Night program will run until dawn, and the operation hours for experience and event booths will shift from daytime to evening.
In addition, the city plans to invite more international military bands and performance groups, diversify national competitions, and create a festival where both global visitors and Korean citizens can participate. Participation from the general public, businesses, and small business owners will also be enhanced to showcase the unique spirit of Daejeon together with its citizens.
Mayor Lee Jangwoo stated, "World-class festivals have grown by continuously improving and developing through accumulated experience," and added, "Just as a path is formed by many footsteps, we will do our utmost to ensure that the third Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival paves a new way for Daejeon?a city with a promising future and a top-tier tourism destination."
