Police Book Song Minho Over 'Poor Service Controversy'... Investigating Violation of Military Service Act

On the 26th, the Seoul Mapo Police Station announced that after receiving an investigation request from the Military Manpower Administration on the 23rd, they registered Song as a suspect on the same day. The police plan to review the Military Manpower Administration's investigation request and determine whether Song violated the Military Service Act.

The Military Manpower Administration is reportedly of the view that if the police investigation confirms issues with Song's service attitude, even if his service discharge has been processed, the discharge may be revoked and he will have to serve again for the problematic period.

Song served as a social service agent at a facility in Mapo-gu, Seoul, from March last year until the 23rd of this month. However, controversy arose on the 17th when allegations surfaced that he did not properly report to work at his service location and even manipulated attendance records.

In response, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon ordered an 'urgent comprehensive survey on the service status of social service agents' targeting Seoul city and its affiliated organizations. Mayor Oh stated, "We will take strict measures based on the survey results and, if necessary, propose institutional improvements to the Military Manpower Administration to ensure fair military service obligations."
