Measures to Revitalize the Economy in Population-Declining Areas through SME Package Support
Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 26th that it has been finally selected for the ‘2025 City/County/District Affiliated Industry Promotion Project,’ a collaborative task led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing 1 billion KRW in national funding and 66 million KRW in provincial funding for 2025?2026.
This project follows Hamyang-gun’s selection in late February for the ‘2024 Regional SME Innovation Contest for Responding to Local Extinction,’ hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, which granted eligibility to apply for this project. After holding a related briefing session in early October, the application was submitted, and the final selection was made through a presentation review at the end of October.
Through this project, Hamyang-gun aims to develop high value-added anti-aging products utilizing the region’s specialized resource, wild ginseng, which is expected to be a significant opportunity for revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs for young people.
In particular, the project is meaningful as a customized business program tailored to each stage of company growth, including supporting technological innovation and growth using local specialties, strengthening the technological competitiveness of youth enterprises, and assisting in market development.
Through this, Hamyang-gun plans to enhance the competitiveness of local SMEs and support the sustainable growth of companies related to wild ginseng.
Additionally, the project is expected to promote the development of the anti-aging bioindustry, positively impacting the creation of new jobs for the local youth and the influx of population into the region.
The Head of the Wild Ginseng Anti-Aging Division of Hamyang-gun stated, “With the selection for the ‘2025 City/County/District Affiliated Industry Promotion Project,’ a foundation has been established to further strengthen the local economy and industrial competitiveness. We plan to recruit project participants through a project announcement at Gyeongnam Technopark around January, and we hope that many local anti-aging bio small and medium enterprises will show great interest.”
