2.15 Million Total Theater Audience on the 24th-25th
The film "Harbin," which depicts the assassination of Ito Hirobumi by An Jung-geun, surpassed 1 million viewers within two days of its release and topped the box office during the Christmas period.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticket sales network on the 26th, "Harbin" (directed by Woo Min-ho) attracted 1,229,391 viewers over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (December 24-25), securing the number one spot at the box office. Its revenue share was 57.0%. The film was released on the 24th, and including preview screenings, the cumulative audience reached 1,254,072.
"Harbin" is a film portraying the tense chase and suspicion between those heading to Harbin in 1909 for a single purpose and those pursuing them. Actor Hyun Bin played An Jung-geun, with Park Jung-min and Park Hoon among the cast. The film was directed by Woo Min-ho, known for "Inside Men" (2015) and "The Man Standing Next" (2020), and produced by Hive Media Corp, which also made "Spring in Seoul" (2023).
"Firefighter," a film based on the Hongje-dong arson incident and directed by Kwak Kyung-taek, attracted 274,474 viewers, ranking second. Released on the 4th, it has drawn a cumulative audience of 2,936,722. The animated film "Moana 2" ranked third with 155,880 viewers, and "Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Our Dinosaur Diary" attracted 145,541 viewers, placing fourth. The prequel to "The Lion King," "Mufasa: The Lion King," gathered 144,970 viewers, ranking fifth.
Additionally, the musical film "Wicked" (64,834 viewers) ranked sixth, and the animation "Niko: Adventure of the Aurora Expedition" (24,624 viewers) ranked seventh. The total number of moviegoers during this period was recorded at 2,151,777.
