Oh Se-hoon on Presidential Run: "Deep Deliberation, Will Make Wise Decision"

Asked about presidential run intentions, "Deep in thought"
"Yoon should boldly criticize Lee Jae-myung"
"It's right to cooperate with judicial procedures as much as possible"
Constitutional Court judge recommended by the National Assembly must be appointed

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon stated regarding the possibility of running in an early presidential election, "I will think deeply and make a wise decision." He also said that President Yoon Suk-yeol, who has not responded to investigations related to the emergency martial law situation, should respond to the investigation confidently.

Mayor Oh appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' on the morning of the 26th and, when asked, "If an early presidential election occurs, will you run?" he said, "Honestly, I am deeply considering it."

He explained, "I resigned midway even during my previous five-year term as mayor," adding, "Given my history of resigning mid-term, resigning again from the Seoul mayor position to run for president is actually quite a burden. It would not be right to the voters." However, he left the door open by saying, "The country is in a crisis situation, and I am a four-term mayor of Seoul. There could certainly be demands that I use this valuable experience and my experience as a public official on a larger national scale."

Regarding President Yoon, who has not complied with the investigative agency's summons, he said, "It is not right," and pointed out, "If he said he would take legal and political responsibility, as he mentioned, then it is appropriate to cooperate as much as possible." He added, "No matter how much Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea and the opposing party, uses tactics to delay the trial, for the president to be able to criticize that confidently, he must also respond to the investigation promptly and confidently."

He also strongly criticized President Yoon's declaration of emergency martial law. He said, "Seeing the impeachment of prosecutors who investigated the opposition party or the impeachment of the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, I guess he must have thought, in plain terms, 'I can't take this anymore,'" but added, "Declaring martial law by mobilizing the military was clearly wrong."

He also emphasized that Acting President Han Duck-soo should appoint constitutional court justices recommended by the National Assembly. Mayor Oh said, "I believe it is necessary to receive a fair and constitutional judgment."
