CGI to Open Korea Headquarters in Early 2025
Supporting Climate Governance Training and Networking for Domestic Companies
Deloitte Korea Group Also Participates as a Key Partner
The global network ‘Climate Governance Initiative (CGI),’ established in 2019 in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, will open its Korea headquarters in the first half of next year.
The International ESG Association announced on the 26th that, as part of efforts to support sustainable growth and climate crisis response for domestic companies, it has attracted the CGI Korea headquarters, which has a network of over 100,000 board members across 33 chapters in 73 countries worldwide.
Deloitte Global is a key partner of CGI, and the Deloitte Korea Group will also participate as a major partner of the CGI Korea headquarters. In particular, Baek In-gyu, Head of the ESG Center at Deloitte Korea Group, will participate as a member of the CGI Korea Headquarters Launch Steering Committee to explore cooperation in various areas.
The CGI Korea headquarters will provide diverse support to help domestic companies establish effective climate governance-based decision-making systems. Its main roles include ▲activating networking among domestic and international board members ▲analyzing board member capabilities and providing related education ▲holding regular forums on climate governance ▲providing funding channels for sustainability projects.
According to the Global Risk Report 2024 released by the World Economic Forum, climate risk is emerging as a key factor determining corporate survival and competitiveness. The CGI Korea headquarters is expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating the carbon-neutral transition of domestic companies centered on their boards and strengthening climate resilience, leading efforts to solve global climate issues.
