Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it has established the 11th branch of the Nowon-gu communal childcare room, ‘Dodam Dodam Nanumteo,’ and has begun full-scale operations.

Dodam Dodam Nanumteo is a public childcare space operated free of charge for children under 7 years old who have not yet entered school and their parents residing in Nowon-gu. It offers distinctive facilities and content by region, providing play spaces for young children and communication spaces for parents, thereby reducing parenting burdens and helping relieve childcare stress.

The 11th branch is located on the first floor of the Sanggye Community Sports Center, boasting a spacious and comfortable area of 159㎡. It is equipped with basic facilities such as a playroom for young children, a block room, and a nursing room. In particular, various play facilities themed around ‘space exploration’ stimulate children’s imagination and creativity.

Children can directly board ▲a spaceship ▲a flying teddy bear, as well as enjoy physical activity-promoting play facilities such as ▲slides ▲ball pits, and brain development toys like ▲cypress cubes ▲blocks. This combination allows children to experience various activities that stimulate both their bodies and minds simultaneously.

Additionally, parent self-help groups for sharing childcare experiences and information, parent-child relationship enhancement programs, and expert childcare counseling rooms are operated to alleviate the difficulties faced by parents raising children at home.

The operating hours of Dodam Dodam Nanumteo 11th branch are from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with three 2-hour sessions per day (9:30 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:30 PM). Usage is available through advance reservation on the Nowon-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center website under Dodam Dodam Nanumteo.

Dodam Dodam Nanumteo has received high praise from residents, with cumulative visitor numbers increasing at each branch. Encouraged by this positive response, the district plans to expand the operation to a total of 15 locations by 2028, aiming to allow residents to conveniently use the facilities closer to their homes.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok stated, “Childcare issues are important challenges that the local community must address together,” adding, “We will install one communal childcare room per neighborhood to reduce parenting burdens and create a trustworthy childcare environment.”
