Marriage with Son's Ex-Girlfriend... Shocking Scandalous Private Life of Former China Bank Chairman

Sentenced to Death for Bribery Charges Worth 20 Billion Won
Four Marriages and Promiscuous Lifestyle Revealed

The scandalous private life of a former high-ranking Chinese official sentenced to death for accepting bribes worth 20 billion won has shocked the public.

On the 21st (local time), Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that the private life of Liu Liange, former Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Bank of China, was exposed.

Liu, who held senior positions at financial institutions such as the Export-Import Bank of China and the Bank of China from 2010 to 2023, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve last November for bribery charges. He was accused of accepting bribes totaling 121 million yuan (approximately 24.05 billion won) and illegally lending more than 3.32 billion yuan to companies that did not meet the conditions.

Under the Chinese judicial system, a death sentence with a two-year reprieve means the execution is suspended for two years, after which the sentence may be commuted to life imprisonment based on the inmate's behavior. The court stated that the defendant confessed to the crime, admitted guilt, returned the bribes received, and showed remorse, which led to the reprieve.

Born in 1961, Liu is from Jilin Province. He worked for 20 years at the People's Bank of China, the central bank, and later served as Vice President and President of the Export-Import Bank of China, and Chairman of the Bank of China. From 2019, he served as Chairman of the Board and Party Committee Secretary of the Bank of China but resigned in March last year amid investigations into corruption allegations.

Local media reported that Liu's success was widely known to be due to his first wife, who was the daughter of a high-ranking official.

However, even after marriage, he maintained extramarital relationships with numerous women. While holding senior positions at the bank, he frequently summoned female subordinates to his office for illicit affairs. Over time, Liu repeatedly divorced and remarried four times, seeking younger and more beautiful wives.

Among these, his fourth marriage caused a major public shock. When Liu's son introduced his girlfriend at home, Liu forced them to break up, saying, "She does not match our family's status."

Six months later, Liu married his son's ex-girlfriend. It is reported that his son was so shocked by this that he suffered from depression.
