President Yoon Suk-yeol has shown a passive stance by not receiving the impeachment trial documents, while it was revealed that he accepted Christmas cards sent by about 500 university students.

On the 24th, the National Student Emergency Meeting for the Resignation of Yoon Suk-yeol (Emergency Meeting), launched by students from over 30 universities nationwide, released a notification message stating "Post office delivery completed." The message read, "The registered mail you sent to President Yoon Suk-yeol at the presidential residence was delivered to Kim Jeong-hwan on December 24, 2024." The group had sent 500 Christmas cards addressed to President Yoon via registered mail through the post office the day before. The registered envelopes included the message, "Mr. President, university students have personally written and sent you letters. Have a happy year-end."

However, inside the envelopes were phrases criticizing President Yoon, such as "You cannot break democracy," "Pay for your crimes and go to jail," and "Let everyone breathe their rightful breath fully and willingly." It is known that the students sent these cards to point out President Yoon’s refusal to accept the Constitutional Court’s notification of impeachment trial receipt and summons. Along with releasing the notification message, the Emergency Meeting stated, "We hope President Yoon will stop the tricks to delay investigation and trial."

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court is scheduled to hold a justices’ meeting on the 26th to discuss the direction of President Yoon’s trial, with the first hearing set for the following day. Currently, President Yoon’s side has neither sent nor received the documents requested by the Constitutional Court and has not even appointed a lawyer. The court is expected to consider countermeasures regarding this. On the 24th, Lee Jin, the Constitutional Court’s public relations officer, said at the afternoon regular briefing, "Power of attorney from the National Assembly’s prosecution committee representatives was submitted to the court yesterday and today, and no other documents have been received from the parties involved." He added, "LKB & Partners and six other firms have been appointed as representatives for the National Assembly side." Previously, the Constitutional Court announced that the impeachment trial documents sent on the 19th arrived at the presidential residence in Hannam-dong on the 20th, and according to relevant laws, a response must be submitted by the 27th.
