This appointment ceremony was organized to award appointment letters to the Resident Autonomy Committee members of △Jinjeop-eup △Hopyeong-dong △Dasan 1-dong, who will begin their new terms in 2025, and to enhance understanding and roles related to resident autonomy.
In particular, during the event, a special moment was held where the members pledged to fulfill their future roles and responsibilities and stored these pledges in a ‘time capsule.’ The pledges written by the members will be delivered to the Resident Autonomy Committee one year later, serving as an opportunity to reflect on their activities during the term.
Additionally, the city invited a resident autonomy expert to conduct training on the theme of ‘Roles and Processes of Resident Autonomy Committee Members.’ Through this training, the members learned about the importance of resident autonomy and specific practical measures, further strengthening their capabilities.
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok of Namyangju said, “I sincerely congratulate the newly appointed Resident Autonomy Committee members,” and added, “I hope you will lead the way in listening to the voices of residents, identifying local issues, and seeking solutions to create a better Namyangju where everyone lives together, as envisioned by Dasan Jeong Yak-yong.”
Since the establishment of the Resident Autonomy Committee in 2016, Namyangju City has been operating resident autonomy committees in a total of eight eup, myeon, and dong districts, and plans to further strengthen the autonomy foundation that enables residents to solve community problems by themselves by activating resident participation in the future.
