Paju-si Establishes Temporary Public Parking Lot Near GTX Unjeongjungang Station

Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 24th that it has established a temporary public parking lot near GTX Unjeongjungang Station with a total capacity of 1,009 vehicles.

The temporarily opened public parking lots are located at Mokdong-dong 237-2 area 'Cultural Facility (2), 527 spaces' and Dongpae-dong San 115-1 area (Business Complex F10, 482 spaces), with a total of 1,009 parking spaces.

With the GTX opening scheduled for the 28th, Paju City anticipated traffic congestion caused by parking shortages and illegal parking, and quickly responded to the traffic chaos by creating temporary public parking lots nearby. Security CCTV has also been installed to prepare for theft and contact accidents that may occur within the parking lots.

The city plans to open the temporary public parking lots on the GTX opening day, the 28th. They will be free of charge until January 2025, and from February, a paid system will be implemented with an unmanned payment parking management system established.

Parking fees are 600 KRW for the first 30 minutes, and 250 KRW for every subsequent 10 minutes, with a maximum daily fee of 9,000 KRW. However, for GTX transfer passengers, the fee is 500 KRW for the first 30 minutes, 70 KRW for every subsequent 10 minutes, and a maximum daily fee of 3,000 KRW, minimizing the parking burden for users. The parking lot operating hours are from 10 PM to 9 AM on weekdays, and free 24 hours on weekends and public holidays.

Jung Young-ok, Head of the Parking Management Division, said, “With two temporary public parking lots established near the GTX transfer stations, we expect to minimize inconvenience for citizens transferring to GTX and contribute to the prevention of illegal parking in the surrounding area. We will do our best to continuously expand parking facilities to improve the quality of life for Paju citizens.”
