Development of Alternative Protein Foods
The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byeong-il) announced on the 24th that WhaleYU Co., Ltd. (CEO No Seung-hyun, Class of 2021, Daegu Haany University, Department of Hotel, Food Service, Culinary Global Software Convergence), a resident company of the Daegu Youth Startup Center Startup Dormitory, has signed a strategic business agreement with agricultural corporation Signal Care Co., Ltd. (CEO Yang Dong-seop).
This agreement aims to combine the strengths of both companies to commercialize alternative protein food products through research and development (R&D) and product development using edible insects (mealworms).

WhaleYU Co., Ltd. is a company with its own food production line and experts in herbal medicine and food, striving to develop various products to create a healthy dietary brand. In particular, it possesses technology for hydrolyzing edible insect (mealworm) protein and reducing the unique fat content of insects.
No Seung-hyun, CEO of WhaleYU Co., Ltd., expressed, “I am pleased to diversify our business and develop better products through this business agreement, and we will continue to strive to provide healthy and good products to more consumers.”
Bae Byeong-il, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, stated, “We will work to strengthen startup support programs to foster the growth of resident companies in the Youth Startup Center Startup Dormitory.”
The Korea Student Aid Foundation Youth Startup Center Startup Dormitory is located in five regions nationwide (Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon) and supports university (graduate) students interested in or preparing for startups by providing free housing, startup spaces, and startup consulting. It connects residents with professional startup advisors to offer monthly startup consultations and supports exchanges among resident young entrepreneurs, providing differentiated youth startup support programs.
