Gyeonggi Province ranked first nationwide for the second consecutive year in the local government building administration evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The local government building administration evaluation is a system in which the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport annually assesses 243 local governments across the country based on 28 detailed indicators in five areas: rationality of building administrative procedures, building safety management, appropriateness of maintenance management, efforts to improve building administration, and more.
In this year's evaluation, Gyeonggi Province achieved an excellent score of 85.87 points overall, securing first place nationwide in all areas. In particular, it received high marks in efforts to improve building administration, such as promoting amendments to the Building Act to upgrade housing for semi-basement residents, resolving blind spots in building disaster and safety management, and preventing illegal residential use of living accommodation facilities.
Additionally, it received high evaluations in areas such as ▲compliance with building permit and review processing periods ▲establishment of maintenance plans for suspended construction buildings ▲performance of actual condition surveys on illegal buildings ▲performance in public building green remodeling projects.
Park Jong-geun, Director of the Architecture and Design Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Going forward, Gyeonggi Province will continue to conduct citizen-centered building administration and make ongoing efforts to improve building administration to create a safe and eco-friendly building environment." He emphasized, "We will also strengthen the efficiency and reliability of overall building administration through close cooperation with local governments within the province."
