Mayor Ikwon Jae: "Realizing Universal Welfare Without Discrimination"
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it will newly implement a universal sanitary product support project for female adolescents starting next year.
This project is based on Mayor Lee Gwon-jae's determination in the 8th municipal administration to expand support, which was previously provided only to low-income groups, to all female adolescents in the city to realize non-discriminatory welfare.

To this end, the city recently allocated 1.1 billion KRW in the next year's budget, which was passed by the city council, for the related project.
The support target includes all female adolescents aged 11 to 18 (born between 2007 and 2014). The city specifically included foreign adolescents in the support target. The purpose is to eliminate welfare blind spots regardless of nationality or status and ensure that all adolescents receive support fairly.
The support fund will be provided monthly at 14,000 KRW in local currency. It can be used at major convenience stores affiliated with the local currency in the city (CU, GS25, 7-Eleven, Emart24). Applications can be made from March next year through Gyeonggi Minwon 24 or the relevant administrative welfare center, and not only the individual but also guardians or primary caregivers can apply on their behalf.
Mayor Lee emphasized, "This project embodies the city administration philosophy that all Osan citizens should enjoy non-discriminatory welfare," adding, "We will continue to promote various policies so that all adolescents can grow up healthier and happier."
