'Orion 3rd Generation' Dam Seowon Promoted to Executive Director After 2 Years

Dam Seowon, the eldest son of Dam Cheol-gon, chairman of Orion Group, and the third-generation owner, was rapidly promoted from managing director to executive director in just two years. It has been 3 years and 5 months since he joined the company to reach the executive director position.

On the 23rd, Orion Group announced that Dam Seowon, managing director of the Management Support Team at Orion Korea, was promoted to executive director in the '2025 Regular Executive Personnel Appointment.'

Executive Director Dam was born in 1989 and is the eldest son of Orion Chairman Dam Cheol-gon and second-generation owner Vice Chairman Lee Hwa-kyung. He joined Orion in July 2021 as senior manager of the Management Support Team and was promoted to managing director in December 2022, just 1 year and 5 months later. This promotion to executive director comes after 2 years.

Executive Director Dam majored in Communication at New York University in the United States and earned an MBA from Peking University. After working for two years at Kakao Enterprise, he joined Orion in 2021 as senior manager of the Management Support Department.

Executive Director Dam is receiving management training while performing practical tasks across Orion Group’s overall management, including business strategy formulation and management, global business support, and new business ventures. Since last year, he has played a leading role in building Orion’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Additionally, as an inside director of Ligachem Bio, which was incorporated into the group this year, he directly participates in major decision-making.

Executive Director Dam holds 1.22% of Orion Holdings shares and 1.23% of Orion shares. His recent promotion is seen as a sign that the succession of Orion’s management rights will proceed in earnest.

An Orion official stated, "Orion is a company that practices responsible management centered on professional managers within a holding company system," adding, "The responsible management system led by professional managers will continue in harmony with the major shareholders."

In this personnel appointment, Lee Sung-soo, CEO of Orion China, was promoted from executive director to vice president. Recognized as a China business expert, Vice President Lee was appointed CEO of the China corporation in January and contributed to increased sales and profits through the establishment of an indirect sales system and strengthening localization strategies.
