Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 22nd that it ranked first in the 'DJSI World' Construction & Engineering category, selected as one of only four construction companies worldwide in the '2024 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)' evaluation held on the 16th.
DJSI World is an index determined by S&P Global from the top 2,500 companies by market capitalization worldwide, selecting the top 10% in sustainability evaluation, reflecting companies' Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management performance. Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the only domestic construction company to have been listed for 15 consecutive years.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction achieved higher scores than last year through financial impact analysis of material sustainability issues, advanced evaluation of biodiversity risks including natural capital, establishment of safety and health policies, and disclosure including ESG data of subsidiaries.
This year, Hyundai Engineering & Construction also demonstrated ESG management performance by being selected for the third consecutive year in the 'Climate Change Response' category by the CDP Korea Committee's Platinum Club and maintaining an A grade for seven consecutive years in the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) evaluation.
To internalize sustainable management, since 2020, the company has been operating a sustainable management council under the Transparent Management Committee. Every first quarter, based on the company's sustainability issues, it selects 'company-wide ESG improvement tasks' through internal consultations and undertakes improvement activities.
A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official stated, "We will fulfill our responsibilities as a global construction company by practicing meaningful activities through systematic discussions and practical improvements for sustainable management."
