Kia announced on the 22nd that it has unveiled the compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) Seltos for the first time in India.
Targeting emerging markets including India, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa-Middle East, the vehicle applies advanced features to a small segment. It measures 3995 mm in length, 1805 mm in width, 1625 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2550 mm. Compared to the previously launched and now discontinued small SUV Stonic in Korea, the Seltos is shorter in length front and rear but slightly wider.
The rear seats offer sliding, reclining, and 60:40 split folding capabilities. Both front and rear seats come with ventilated seats. The driver's instrument cluster, climate control, and infotainment system are seamlessly connected across three screens. Popular features such as a sunroof, interior mood lighting, wireless charging, and Harman Kardon sound system are applied in various ways.
Wireless software updates (OTA) are available. Customers do not need to visit a service center or connect any equipment; vehicle software can be updated or new functions applied via wireless communication. Kia Connect 2.0, which supports SOS emergency assistance and real-time vehicle diagnostics, is included. Various advanced driver assistance system functions such as front collision avoidance assist are also applied.
The 1.0 gasoline turbo engine produces 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, while the 1.5 diesel model delivers 116 horsepower and 250 Nm. Lee Kwang-gu, head of Kia's India regional headquarters, said, "With the Seltos equipped with advanced technology and bold design, we will further strengthen our position in India."
The model name Seltos is derived from the name of an island in the Cyclades archipelago of Greece. The company explained that it reflects the image of Syros Island, where tradition and Western culture harmonize, symbolizing the intention to offer differentiated product value.
