Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 20th that it held the final report meeting for the traffic signal operation management service at the Traffic Policy Meeting Room in the City Hall Annex 1 on the 18th.

The meeting was attended by traffic signal operation managers from Goyang Special City, Goyang Police Station, Ilsan Dongbu Police Station, Ilsan Seobu Police Station, and the service provider to review the achievements of the 2024 traffic signal operation management service project and discuss future improvement directions.

Through the '2024 Traffic Signal Operation Management Service,' the city focused on improving the traffic convenience and safety for citizens and alleviating road congestion by enhancing the traffic signal systems at 442 intersections out of 1,411 intersections, including seven major arterial road axes.

As a result of improving traffic signal operations over a 17.94 km section of seven major arterial roads, including Gobong-ro, the effects included ▲ an average increase of 5.2 km/h in average travel speed per horizontal axis ▲ a reduction of 23.8 seconds/km in delay time ▲ and a decrease of 1.0 stop per vehicle on average.

The resulting economic cost savings were ▲ 1.667 billion KRW/year in vehicle operation cost reduction ▲ 256 million KRW/year in environmental cost reduction ▲ and 4.983 billion KRW/year in time value cost reduction, totaling 6.906 billion KRW/year.
