Advancing the "Korean Medicine Standard EMR Framework"
and Standardizing Clinical Information

This report meeting was attended by 11 advisory committee members, including experts from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Korean medicine community, and the healthcare industry. They reviewed the achievements of the 2024 project, discussed future plans, and explored strategies to further activate the project.
The "Establishment Project of the Korean Medicine Clinical Information Big Data Support Center" aims to build a hub for Korean medicine clinical information big data to enhance the safety and efficacy of Korean medicine treatment.
Through this project, the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development developed and advanced the "Korean Medicine Standard EMR Framework," a clinical information entry tool based on the CPG developed through the project. By applying and expanding the Korean Medicine Standard EMR Framework to Korean medicine institutions, the institute confirmed the potential for clinical information data collection and CPG-based research.
Additionally, the institute developed the "Korean Medicine Standard Clinical Information Codebook," which presents the hierarchical structure and code classification system for Korean medicine procedures, prescriptions, and medical device information. It also specifically proposed ways to link SNOMED CT, an international standard terminology system, with Korean medicine clinical terminology.
Shin Jesu, Acting President of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, stated, "Building a Korean medicine clinical information big data system is a core task for the scientific advancement and standardization of Korean medicine, and it will serve as an important milestone for the future."
