On the 19th, Dangjin City in Chungnam Province was selected as an “Outstanding Institution” for the second consecutive year in the “2024 Regulatory Innovation City and County Performance Evaluation” organized by Chungnam Province.

This year, the province evaluated 15 cities and counties on nine criteria, including improvement of central government regulations and local ordinances, and regulatory relief through proactive administration.

In particular, the city received excellent marks in the joint government evaluation sector, earning the honor of being selected as an outstanding institution for two consecutive years.

This year, the city submitted 17 regulatory improvement proposals to central government agencies aimed at enhancing citizens’ quality of life and resolving inconveniences, such as expanding the scope of farmland use activities, relaxing conditions for customized cosmetics sales to promote refill stores, and improving regulations on emergency vehicle sirens.

Additionally, two cases were selected as best practices for regulatory improvement through proactive administration by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety: the temporary installation of ticket offices to improve transportation convenience for residents in island areas (Dobido) through active legal interpretation, and the flexible interpretation of regulations allowing closed daycare centers to be used as welfare facilities for children and the elderly through changes to district unit plans.

Mayor Oh Seonghwan stated, “Dangjin City’s outstanding achievements in regulatory reform and proactive administration are the result of our commitment to resolving citizens’ inconveniences through active governance,” adding, “We will continue to prioritize citizens and foster an organizational culture that actively improves administrative regulations.”
