The 50 million KRW donated for the Onsan area’s support projects for neighbors in need will be used through the Onsan-eup Community Security Council to support low-income households’ children’s academy tuition, provide ‘Visible Doorbells’ for hearing-impaired and hard-of-hearing elderly living alone, and supply customized items such as summer heat relief goods and seasonal kimchi for low-income families in the district.
The 30 million KRW sponsorship for the agricultural product package project will be used by the Onsan Nonghyup Rural Love Volunteer Group to directly package fresh seasonal agricultural products produced at different times of the year and deliver them to low-income households and senior centers.
Park Seong-hoon, Executive Director of S-OIL who attended the event, said, “S-OIL continuously carries out various social contribution activities to coexist with the Onsan area where our plant is located. We will continue to expand community-based social contribution projects closely connected with Onsan residents.”
Lee Junho, Mayor of Onsan-eup, said, “Despite the difficult times caused by the prolonged economic downturn, I thank S-OIL for their efforts to support neighbors in need within the district. We will do our best to reduce welfare crisis households and improve the living conditions of low-income groups through welfare-specialized projects utilizing the donations.”
S-OIL annually purchases rice and pears worth approximately 500 million KRW produced in the Onsan area and carries out various social contribution projects to coexist with the Onsan community, including scholarship donations to scholarship foundations for Onsan youth scholarship programs, seafood package projects, and sponsorship of community unity events and senior citizen banquets.
