The Korea Exchange announced on the 20th that it held the closing ceremony for the 14th KRX University Student Financial Character Education Volunteer Group, Happy Nuri.
At the event, Hwang Woo-kyung, Secretary General of the KRX National Happiness Foundation, and 49 volunteer members attended, during which reports on educational activities, certificate and scholarship presentations, and awards for outstanding volunteers were conducted.
Launched in August this year, the Happy Nuri volunteer group conducted ten sessions of financial and character education for about 600 students at 51 local children's centers in Seoul, the metropolitan area, Busan, and Gyeongnam over approximately three months, instilling financial knowledge and proper economic habits in children while contributing to the cultivation of good character.
In particular, the children engaged in production activities by carefully growing and harvesting mushrooms themselves, creating advertisements, and selling them. Through meetings, the children donated the proceeds from mushroom sales and their saved allowances to organizations such as Green Umbrella, World Vision, and the Korea Leukemia Pediatric Cancer Association, allowing them to experience the value of sharing.
Jung Eun-bo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, stated, “We plan to continue various social contribution activities with university students and support educational activities so that children in local communities can grow up healthily.”
The Korea Exchange plans to recruit the 15th KRX University Student Financial Character Education Volunteer Group, Happy Nuri, around June to July next year.
