Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, was selected as the only "Best Local Government" among 22 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk Province in the 2024 Local Government Financial Analysis Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety targeting 243 local governments nationwide. As a result, it received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award and a special grant incentive of 100 million KRW.
The financial analysis is a representative local finance monitoring system of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety that categorizes local governments nationwide into five peer groups (special/metropolitan cities, provinces, cities, counties, districts) and analyzes the financial status and performance of local governments based on 13 major financial indicators across three areas (soundness, efficiency, and planning) using the previous year's budget settlement data.
Cheongsong-gun was selected as an "Excellent Local Government" in the 2023 financial analysis and received a special grant of 50 million KRW, and this year it was selected as the "Best Local Government."
The county was highly evaluated in the financial soundness area with an integrated current liabilities ratio of 2.1%, which is lower than the peer group average of 4.14%.
Additionally, the ratio of overdue non-tax revenue management costs was 0.17%, showing an excellent figure lower than the peer group average of 0.31%, and the local subsidy ratio was 5.99%, also lower than the peer group average of 8.3%, demonstrating excellence in financial efficiency.
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, "This achievement was made possible by the efforts of all public officials to prepare a well-structured budget and operate finances stably despite difficult financial conditions such as high inflation and economic recession. We will strive even more to ensure sound financial management that residents can trust and feel secure about."
