The second term of the Citizen Participation Innovation Committee consists of a total of 43 members, including citizen representatives familiar with local conditions and private experts from five fields. They will serve for two years to derive solutions to Hanam City's current issues and provide major policy advice and recommendations.

At this inauguration ceremony, the head of HDC Hyundai Development Company was invited to give a special lecture on the theme of "The Global Competitiveness of Cities, the Great Evolution of Tokyo, and Hanam."

The lecture was organized to help committee members understand and strengthen urban development capabilities at a time when large-scale development projects such as K-Star World, Camp Colburn, and Gyosan New Town are about to be promoted.

Participants shared insights on ways to enhance local competitiveness from the perspective of developers (real estate developers) who increase the value of cities and took time to consider the future direction of urban development that Hanam City will pursue.

Mayor Lee Hyun-jae of Hanam said, "Thanks to the active advisory activities of the first term Citizen Participation Innovation Committee over the past two years, including the creation of Hanam City Traffic Park, review of the appropriate scale for BRT garage expansion, consideration of the construction of a tentatively named Children's English Specialized Library, and activation of the online integrated education platform, we were able to concretize the blueprint for a future self-sufficient city of 500,000 people." He added, "I ask for continued proactive participation so that we can push forward the city’s core tasks with greater speed."

Meanwhile, the Citizen Participation Innovation Committee was launched in December 2022 to propose policy development strategies linked to the city’s major projects and to discover new policies. The second term will end in December 2026.

In February, the first regular meeting of the 2025 Citizen Participation Innovation Committee will be held, and new planning tasks linked to the city’s major issues and policies will be selected by each division to promote benchmarking and advisory activities.
