Part of Permit Innovation Policy to Communicate with Citizens and Enhance Tangible Experience
Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 20th that it has published a permit guidebook titled "About Permit" to help citizens resolve their usual questions about permits and approvals.
The About Permit guidebook covers five types of permits: building permits, development activity permits, mountain area use permits, farmland use permits (including farmland embankment), and factory establishment permits.
Unlike previous permit-related booklets published by Paju City, which were composed mainly of legal and procedural content, this guidebook is organized around practical cases that ordinary citizens and building owners might be curious about, and it includes various illustrations and drawings to make it easier to understand, which is its distinguishing feature.
The publication of this guidebook is the result of permit innovation policies aimed at better communication with citizens and enabling them to experience more convenient permit processes, implemented alongside the 2-5-7 civil service system to shorten permit processing times (requesting interdepartmental consultation within 2 days after permit application, receiving consultation feedback within 5 days, and notifying the building owner of the first result within 7 days).
In particular, since April this year, about 20 employees in charge of permits at the Building and Housing Bureau have worked together, participating in multiple planning and editing meetings to produce a permit guidebook that is easy for citizens to understand. Additionally, design firms such as the Paju Regional Architects Association and the Paju Surveying Association actively participated in the editing meetings, offering advice on parts that citizens are curious about, showing strong cooperation for the publication of the guidebook.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, "Paju City has made great efforts for administrative innovation in permits, and the results have been remarkable. Through the publication of this guidebook, I hope citizens can feel more familiar with permits, and we will continue to strive to make Paju City's permit administration a national model."
Meanwhile, the guidebook will be distributed through town offices and major institutions starting January 2025, and it will also be posted on the Paju City website for public access.
