Dongtan City Hospital (Director Shin Jae-heung) recently received a commendation from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province for its contribution to promoting the health of residents at the ‘2024 Gyeonggi-do Health and Medical Development Committee 2nd Policy Forum’ held at the Courtyard Marriott Suwon Hotel.
On this day, Dongtan City Hospital was recognized for its efforts in supporting vulnerable groups within the province and revitalizing care medical services through the operation of the ‘Visiting Gyeonggi-do Hwaseong City Care Medical Center,’ which opened in July.
The Visiting Gyeonggi-do Hwaseong City Care Medical Center is the nation’s first unrestricted visiting medical and welfare integrated service operated by Gyeonggi Province in 2024. It targets elderly people with mobility difficulties, bedridden patients, and severely disabled individuals who have trouble visiting medical institutions. A care medical team consisting of doctors, nurses, social workers, and physical therapists visits the applicant’s home to provide medical services such as examinations, prescriptions, vital sign measurements, various tests, nutrition education and counseling, and lifestyle management. If care is needed, they also provide guidance on linking to social welfare services within the community.
Unlike existing home medical care projects, this service does not separately categorize recipients such as long-term care grade holders; any Gyeonggi resident with mobility difficulties can apply for visiting medical care.
The policy forum was attended by over 150 key stakeholders, including the Gyeonggi-do Health and Medical Policy Division, Gyeonggi-do Medical Center and regional (private) hospital care medical teams, Gyeonggi-do city and county public health centers, medical institutions related to care medical services, and experts.
The detailed agenda included ▲ commendation from the governor for contributors to care medical services, ▲ presentations on care medical center achievements by hospital, ▲ introduction and achievements of Gyeonggi-do projects, ▲ central government’s direction for care medical services, and ▲ discussions on expanding the role of local governments in care medical services.
Shin Jae-heung, director of Dongtan City Hospital, said, “I am grateful to receive such a meaningful award, and I will continue to do my best to improve residents’ health and eliminate welfare blind spots.”
