Yeongdeok-gun Signs Agreement with Panak for 'Tourism and Economic Revitalization'

Commitment to Win-Win Cooperation Including Tourism Package Development and Joint Marketing

Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, signed an agreement on the 19th with Panak Operated by Sono, which is set to operate a luxury resort facility in the area, aiming to promote regional economic development and tourism revitalization, and to provide tangible benefits to local residents.

The main points of this agreement include △development of tourism packages linked to local tourist attractions and representative festivals and joint marketing promotion △discount benefits for local residents using the facilities △supply and utilization of local clean agricultural, marine, and forest specialty food ingredients △customized workforce training and employment opportunities for local youth △and support for other local events and underprivileged groups.


Kim Gwang-yeol, the mayor of Yeongdeok-gun, stated, “As a result of actively attracting private investment to build a large-scale accommodation facility befitting a tourist destination visited by 10 million people annually, the renowned Panak Operated by Sono, which aims for privacy and luxury, has been established. I hope that the best accommodation facility, facing Ganggu Port, the best single tourist destination in Korea, will create synergy, leading to an influx of tourists and revitalization of local tourism, and that a model of coexistence will be realized.”


Panak Operated by Sono is located within Samsa Marine Park in Ganggu-myeon, Yeongdeok-gun, covering a site area of 21,369㎡ with 4 basement floors and 9 above-ground floors. Construction began in 2019 with a total project cost of approximately 156 billion KRW, and it is scheduled to begin operations on the 24th.


The facility comprises 217 hotel rooms and 45 pool villa rooms, totaling 262 rooms, and is equipped with a banquet hall, seminar rooms, and an infinity pool. It boasts the only ocean view in all rooms in Gyeongbuk Province.
