Sahmyook University will select 432 students in the regular admissions for the 2025 academic year. Among them, 235 students, accounting for 54.4%, will be recruited through the newly established Division of Liberal Studies.
The number of regular admission slots is as follows: Group A general admission and rural area admission 174 and 30 respectively; Group B general admission and rural area admission 168 and 2 respectively; Group C general admission and rural area admission 49 and 9 respectively. The specialized high school admission, which is an extra-quota admission, will be conducted if there are unregistered students from the early admission process.
The Division of Liberal Studies at Sahmyook University only admits students through regular admissions. In Group A, 87 students will be admitted to the Creative Convergence Liberal Studies Division (Humanities), and in Group B, 148 students will be admitted to the Future Convergence Liberal Studies Division (Natural Sciences). Students in the Division of Liberal Studies can experience various majors during their first year and freely choose their desired major without college or quota restrictions upon advancing to the second year. Even if admitted to the humanities-oriented Creative Convergence Liberal Studies Division, students can transfer to natural science departments. However, nine departments including education, medical and pharmaceutical sciences, arts and physical education, religious studies, and advanced technology departments are not selectable.
Student selection is based 100% on the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) scores without distinction of academic track. Scores from four areas?Korean, Mathematics, English, and Inquiry (average of two subjects)?are weighted at 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10% respectively in descending order. Applicants to the Future Convergence Liberal Studies Division (Natural Sciences) who took Calculus or Geometry in Mathematics receive an additional 5% bonus to their total score.
English scores are applied differentially according to Sahmyook University's conversion table, ranging from 98 points for grade 1 to 0 points for grade 9. Inquiry subjects include social studies, science, and vocational studies, with one subject allowed to be substituted by Korean History.
The Department of Pharmacy will admit 22 students in Group B: 20 through general admission and 2 through rural area admission. The weights are 25% Korean, 30% Mathematics, 25% English, and 20% Inquiry (average of two subjects). Applicants who took social studies inquiry and Mathematics Probability and Statistics are also eligible. However, if Calculus or Geometry is selected in Mathematics, a 5% bonus is added to the score, and a 3% bonus is added if two science inquiry subjects are selected. Vocational inquiry is not accepted, and Korean History substitution is not allowed.
Departments in arts and physical education such as Physical Education (Group A), Art and Design (Group A), and Music (Group C) also consider practical exam scores. The Physical Education Department evaluates by combining 60% CSAT and 40% practical exam scores; the Art and Design Department uses 51% CSAT and 49% practical exam; the Music Department applies 20% CSAT and 80% practical exam. For arts and physical education tracks, the CSAT scores are calculated by taking the top two scores among Korean, Mathematics, English, and Inquiry, each weighted at 50%.
Application submission will be conducted on JinHakApply from 10 a.m. on the 31st of this month until 6 p.m. on January 3rd next year. The announcement of successful candidates will be on February 4th next year.
