Paldo announced on the 20th that its 'Paldo Jjajangmyeon' has surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 100 million units.
Paldo Jjajangmyeon is a premium jjajang ramen introduced in 2015. Unlike regular jjajang ramen, it uses a liquid sauce to deliver the 'real jjajang flavor.' The sauce is made by stir-frying chunjang (fermented black soybean paste) with generous chunks of potatoes, onions, and other ingredients to enhance the flavor. The pork used in the ingredients is 100% domestic pork, co-planned with the Korea Pork Producers Association. The ingredients are sterilized at high temperatures to improve preservation and safety.
The liquid sauce alone weighs 100g, allowing for a generous serving. When heated separately, it can also be used in various dishes such as rice bowls and tteokbokki. Another feature is the use of onion concentrate in the noodles. The unique sweetness of the onion complements the jjajang sauce, adding umami. Compared to the company's regular ramen, wider noodles are used to enhance the chewy texture.
Lee Suhyang, Paldo's marketing team leader, said, "Paldo Jjajangmyeon delivers the taste of jjajangmyeon using chunjang sauce," and added, "It tastes even better when oyster sauce and Cheongyang chili peppers are added after cooking."
