Coloray, a manufacturer and seller of pearl pigment based in Jinju, recently announced on the 20th the official launch of its premium special pigment product, the ‘optical color-changing product.’
Optical color-changing pigments are composed of materials with various refractive indices, enabling high-gloss chroma and diverse color changes depending on the viewing angle. They are premium special pigments characterized by a wide color change range and high color purity. The optical color-changing materials offer advantages such as eco-friendly raw materials, environmentally friendly manufacturing processes, ease of mass production, high color saturation, bright colors, extensive color control possibilities, and no structural color fading. They consist of multilayer thin-film interference structures that provide vivid color changes and high saturation.
Optical color-changing pigments are used in various fields including cosmetics, plastics, paints, and printing. Depending on product requirements, they can be mixed with general inks or coatings to produce screen printing inks or coatings.
For this optical color-changing product project, Coloray invested approximately 50 million yuan (about 9.2 billion KRW) in technology development, production line establishment, and market promotion, planning to secure an annual production capacity of about 5 tons through this project.
A Coloray representative stated, “Based on the broad application possibilities of this new optical color-changing product, Coloray will strive to lead the market. The first-year sales of the optical color-changing product are expected to reach 60 million yuan (about 11 billion KRW), which will provide new growth momentum for the company and deliver unprecedented value to customers and partners.”
