Hancom announced on the 20th that it has expanded customized educational support activities for multicultural youth and teachers.
This activity was conducted for the second time following last month, focusing on improving the educational environment for youth who have immigrated mid-way.
Hancom, together with its subsidiary Hancom Academy, established a smart classroom at 'Jiguchon School,' an alternative school located in Seoul, and conducted edutech-related lectures for 22 multicultural teachers and parents.
This program was planned in cooperation with Smilegate Hope Studio, aiming to create a digital educational environment for youth who have immigrated mid-way. These youth refer to those born and raised in their home countries who then migrated to Korea.
To form the smart classroom, Hancom donated 21 PCs and educational equipment such as electronic whiteboards, providing an environment where multicultural youth can learn using the latest IT technologies. Additionally, Hancom Academy offered edutech and AI-based flipped learning lectures through training on how to utilize the equipment.
In particular, this education introduced Korean language teaching methods using 'Hancom Typing x TOPIK,' which combines Hancom’s typing practice program 'Hancom Typing' with TOPIK content, to support the improvement of Korean language skills and preparation for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) for multicultural children and youth.
Hancom is carrying out various social contribution activities to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. Representative examples include sponsoring CODEGATE, a global security festival; collaborating with the Raphael Foundation for medical support projects for socially marginalized groups; supporting homeless clinics; and donating goods.
Furthermore, to promote the spread of Hangul overseas, Hancom provides Hancom Office free of charge to Hangul education institutions worldwide in cooperation with the King Sejong Institute Foundation, the Overseas Koreans Foundation, and the Ministry of Education.
Kim Yeon-su, CEO of Hancom, stated, "Helping multicultural youth adapt well to Korean society and prepare for the future is an important task for our society," adding, "We will continue to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities to create social value by utilizing Hancom’s IT technology and educational expertise."
