The briefing session was held for about 20 promising and leading domestic and international companies in the 4th industrial sector to promote the creation of Ilsan Techno Valley and the designation of the Goyang Economic Free Zone.
Following the introduction of Goyang Special City’s investment attraction activities by Lee Jung-hwa, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Goyang Special City, presentations were made on the progress of large-scale development projects in Goyang, including Ilsan Techno Valley, the conditions for investment attraction in Goyang, proposals, and presentations by companies wishing to move into Ilsan Techno Valley.
Finally, a business agreement ceremony was held between domestic and international companies and Goyang Special City to designate the Goyang Economic Free Zone and revitalize the 4th industry.
Deputy Mayor Lee Jung-hwa stated, “Goyang City is advancing as a global high-tech industrial city with excellent accessibility to Incheon Airport and Gimpo Airport, convenient metropolitan transportation networks, and excellent residential conditions.”
She added, “We plan to promote the designation of the Goyang Economic Free Zone centered on smart mobility, artificial intelligence (AI), aerospace industry, bio and precision medicine, and K-Culture industries in connection with facilities such as the Goyang Drone Anchor Center and the Korean Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) takeoff and landing site to be established next year. Companies moving into Ilsan Techno Valley, which will begin leasing next year, will be able to form extensive networks supported by various infrastructures and cooperation from local institutions,” she said.
She continued, “If various special zones such as the Opportunity Development Zone, which provides benefits including location, tax, and regulatory exemptions, are designated, it is expected that Goyang will come closer to becoming a global self-sufficient city. I am confident that the support of those present here today and the signing of the business agreement will be an important foundation for realizing this.”
Goyang Special City was designated as the first venture business promotion district in northern Gyeonggi in October. As a result, venture companies in the designated area receive various benefits such as property tax and acquisition tax reductions and exemptions from five types of development charges, creating a foundation where not only leading companies but also venture companies can coexist and realize a self-sufficient city.
Meanwhile, the Ilsan Techno Valley project, which is emerging as a core hub for the 4th industry in northern Gyeonggi, also began main construction in October and is currently progressing smoothly with infrastructure development ahead of land sales scheduled for 2025.
