Coal Briquette Delivery to Ignite Warmth in Yeongdeungpo-dong Ggokbangchon on the 21st
December's Final Volunteer Day Held... District Mayor Choi Hogwon, Public-Private Volunteer Group, and Over 30 Participants
Every Third Saturday of the Month Designated as 'Volunteer Day'... Practicing Neighborly Love and Sharing in Various Fields
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that on December 21, in preparation for the winter heating season, it will carry out briquette delivery volunteer activities at the Yeongdeungpo-dong jjokbangchon, where heating-vulnerable households gather, as part of the December ‘Volunteer Day’ activities.
This volunteer activity will be conducted through public-private cooperation, including District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, the District Volunteer Association, Yeongdeungpo-dong volunteer members, local residents, and district office staff. About 30 volunteers will participate, delivering a total of 1,000 briquettes one by one with warmth, gifting the jjokbangchon residents a warm winter.
The district designates the third Saturday of every month as ‘Volunteer Day’ and continuously carries out various volunteer activities for the local community and socially vulnerable groups. In particular, Volunteer Day practices the value of neighborly love and sharing through highly impactful volunteer activities tailored to the season and timing. It has also established itself as an important channel for communication with residents, with participation from public officials including executives and local residents.

Since the Volunteer Day launch ceremony in January under the slogan “Hope for Neighbors, Happiness of Volunteering, Future Together,” the district has carried out volunteer activities in various fields.
Including this briquette delivery, through diverse activities such as ▲4000-step plogging ▲Seollal (Lunar New Year) homeless rice cake soup serving volunteer work ▲shopping accompaniment for youth with developmental disabilities ▲rainwater drain cleaning ▲making support lunch boxes for single-person household youth ▲planting flowers in parks, the district has ignited sparks of hope in the community together with residents.
Next year, the district plans to focus on spreading a culture of neighborly love through ‘Volunteer Day’ activities throughout the community, creating a safe and livable Yeongdeungpo. In particular, it will expand volunteer activities closely related to residents’ daily lives, such as snow removal and flood control, encouraging active participation from district employees and local residents.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “The warmth delivered by a single briquette is a precious opportunity to share affection among neighbors beyond simple heating,” and added, “We will continue to deliver warmth to the community through various volunteer activities and do our best to make Yeongdeungpo a good place to live for all residents.”
