Suspicion of Prearranged Martial Law by Former Intelligence Commander Noh Sang-won
Fortune House Near Lotteria Store Where Generals Gathered Is His Residence
"Studied Philosophy and Changed Name"... Partnered with Fortune Tellers
On the 1st, two days before the December 3 emergency martial law, suspicions arose that former and current commanders of the Defense Security Command allegedly premeditated the martial law at a Lotteria store in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. It has been identified that the key figure, former Defense Security Command Commander No Sang-won, is currently working as a fortune teller. On the 19th, JTBC reported, "The former commander's residence near the Lotteria store is a fortune-telling house," adding, "Three fortune tellers responsible for saju (Four Pillars of Destiny) and other divinations are staying there."
The fortune tellers staying there revealed that former Commander No is in charge of myungrihak (the study of fate) and that they are business partners. Former Commander No was prosecuted on charges of forcible molestation of a female military trainee whom he called to a drinking party on the evening of Armed Forces Day, October 1, 2018, during his tenure as the head of the Army Intelligence School. At that time, the court sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months in prison and imposed a 3-year employment restriction at institutions related to children and adolescents. It is understood that he began his business partnership with the fortune tellers in 2019, after receiving a prison sentence for sexual crimes and being dishonorably discharged.
Partner A stated that former Commander No also personally received clients as a fortune teller. A said, “We met while praying at a temple. Since we are in the same field, we studied together,” adding, “He also reads philosophy, changes names, and is famous even in rural areas, so he probably offers consultations.”
Another partner added, “He has spiritual talent. That’s why he studied in that direction,” and “He has mastered saju and myungri.” According to JTBC, a local resident also remembered former Commander No as a ‘male bodhisattva.’
It was reported that former Commander No was staying at the fortune-telling house when the emergency martial law was declared in March. He held the so-called 'Lotteria meeting' with Defense Security Command Commander Moon Sang-ho and two others two days before the martial law declaration and was arrested by the police on the 18th on charges of premeditating the emergency martial law situation.
