Implementation from January 2025 Following the Approval of the 2025 Budget...Improving Working Conditions for Community Sports Instructors and Contributing to Local Sports Revitalization through Fair Compensation
Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will introduce a step-based salary system for sports association community sports instructors starting January 2025.
This follows the approval of the "2025 Seoul Special City Mapo-gu Budget" at the 2nd regular session of the Mapo-gu Council on December 19, 2024.
Mapo-gu Sports Association community sports instructors play a key role in revitalizing community sports and promoting residents' health by leading physical activities at schools and sports facilities, supporting community sports competitions, and carrying out entrusted projects for sports organizations.
In particular, since 2023, Mapo-gu has contributed significantly to creating an environment where residents can enjoy sports activities in their daily lives by opening five public gyms in the district year-round without holidays.
Recognizing that improving the treatment of community sports instructors is an important factor for the development of local sports, Mapo-gu held a meeting in September 2024 to listen to the instructors' opinions and decided to introduce a step-based salary system to provide employment stability and reasonable compensation based on experience.
The confirmed step-based salary system is expected to improve the working conditions of community sports instructors, boost morale through fair compensation according to experience, and contribute to the revitalization of local sports.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, emphasized, "Community sports instructors are the backbone of local sports development and indispensable for creating a healthy and vibrant life for residents. The introduction of this step-based salary system will be an important stepping stone for the sustainable growth of local sports."
