Cross-Verification to Confirm G-Mark Hanwoo Beef Delivered as School Meals
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 20th that it found and corrected deficiencies in the reporting of the Livestock Product Traceability System at one G-Mark processing plant during an inspection of the implementation status of the system for G-Mark branded Korean beef.

From November 16 to December 18, Gyeonggi Province conducted inspections targeting 14 G-Mark livestock product processing plants in the province that supply Korean beef to school meals.
The inspection was carried out jointly with the Seoul-Gyeonggi branch of the Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Service, the agency responsible for the Livestock Product Traceability System. As a result, one facility was found to have inadequate records of incoming and outgoing quantities, and the entire records were corrected. Additionally, DNA identity tests were conducted on some Korean beef individuals, and the samples were deemed appropriate.
Furthermore, to prevent the mislabeling of general livestock products as G-Mark livestock products when supplying school meals, the G-Mark livestock product school meal settlement details, the farm shipment records from the Livestock Product Traceability System, and the status of G-Mark participating farms were cross-checked, revealing no cases of mislabeling.
Overall, the compliance status of G-Mark processing plants was good; however, some business operators were found to have issues such as delays in entering data into the Livestock Product Traceability System. Guidance was provided to prevent such problems from recurring in the future.
Lee Kang-young, Director of the Livestock Animal Welfare Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, “Through the inspection, we were able to confirm the safety of G-Mark livestock products, which are widely supplied to school meals,” and added, “We will continue regular inspections to ensure the safety management of livestock products produced in the province.”
